New Cell Phone Policy

In effect until the end of the year

Absolutely NO cell phone usage allowed within or upon any ECHO Charter School property for students.  The property of ECHO Charter School extends beyond the school building itself to all the grounds surrounding the school building.

Cell phones are not to be used for any reason.  Students are permitted to bring their cell phone to the office and make a necessary call for an emergency, otherwise, the office phone is available for making necessary calls.

The office has space available for students who wish to check in their phone at the beginning of the school day.

Otherwise, all classroom teachers have procedures for turning in student cell phones during the beginning of class and provide time for students to pick up their cell phone at the end of the instruction time.

Students using cell phones will receive the following consequences:

1st offense:  Phone is immediately confiscated and taken to the office.  Students can pick up their phone from the office after the last bell of the school day. Detention:  1 hour

2nd offense: Phone is immediately confiscated and taken to the office.  Parents will be notified and required to pick up the phone from the office during school hours.  At that time they will be informed of the procedures should there be a 3rd offense. Detention time:  2 hours

3rd offense:  Phone is immediately confiscated and taken to the office and will remain there until the end of the year.

This policy goes into effect:  May 10, 2011
